Sometimes all it takes is a voice. One voice that becomes a hundred, and then a thousand. Unless it’s silenced.

Christian Bale as Jack Kelly in Newsies, part 15

This is a stupid question but… is there an Anastasia fandom?

I swear we all just reblog Anastasia gifs because it’s a fucking awesome animated movie and we’ll never outgrow it, but it doesn’t exactly have a FANDOM fandom like other musicals do. Or it just does and I haven’t found it yet idk.

What I’m REALLY wondering is… once the musical comes out on Broadway, are all the bitchy fans gonna come out of the woodwork? “Oh, I don’t want any of these NEW fans. I miss it when it was the REAL fans who would always watch the movie together. Ugh ugh ugh~” Since I’ve seen a fair share of it for the awesome Newsies musical on Broadway.

Because I’m just saying, if we’re gonna get that, I am NOT HERE FOR THAT NEGATIVITY.

No. No I don’t remember when we were just a small fandom.
I joined the Newsies fandom over ten years ago [cue the people complaining about me being elitist, but I never bring this shit up and I’m just saying it because it is a fact — it doesn’t make me better or worse than anyone else] and it was big. Not as big as fandoms that are out there but considering it was for a Disney movie that was a box office flop, it wasn’t small.
So no, I don’t remember when we were ‘just a small fandom’ and honestly, saying ‘I have nothing against the musical’ is kind of negated when you follow up with ‘I sort of wish it had never happened.’The stage production didn’t destroy the fandom.
The stage production revitalized and re-popularized a story that is so deserving of every attention and accolade it receives. The stage production has given success to this music and these characters that we fell in love with years ago, and has opened the show up to so many people who might not have heard about it otherwise. It has brought people together, and shouted a message from the rooftops that deserves and needs to be heard.
Fandom destroyed the fandom. People who refused to accept the fact that people were allowed to have differing opinions, people who continue to hide behind anonymity to send hate and wish death upon people in the name of fandom, those are the people who destroyed the fandom.
Don’t blame the stage show and its success for the ‘fansies’ out there who don’t know how to grow up and treat people like they themselves would want to be treated.

^ There you go.
