AU After being shot with a wolfsbane-laced bullet, Derek finds Allison Argent in the school parking lot, hoping that her obvious empathy will help him rather than hurt him. It's naivety brought on by excruciating pain, but she pulls through, discovering the bullet in her aunt's bag and saving his life. Still, he wasn't expecting exactly how empathetic she could be.
“Are you… crying?”
Allison gripped the steering wheel tighter and forced herself to take an even breath. Don’t blink. Don’t say anything. You’ll just prove to him that you are. You’re stronger than that.
But the last time they were in a car together, he was bringing her home from Lydia’s party. He was all lazy smiles and apologies for Scott and turning up the heater when he saw her shiver. He was nice to her and now he was dying and Kate had been the one who put that bullet in his arm. Everything was crumbling around her, and she couldn’t even latch onto someone who had been so sweet before.
“I’m fine,” she said eventually, once the vice of worry around her throat loosened. “You’ll be fine, too.”
you’ve got a heart as loud as lions, so why let you voice be tamed? baby we’re a little different, there’s no need to be ashamed. you’ve got the light to find the shadows, so stop hiding it away.
Look at you, yelling for help, always yelling for help. It’s Pathetic, Allison.
